My project is of a shoe concept inspired from kimono, traditional footwear has been linked with kimono since a long time so i thought maybe the best way to revive the culture and promote the art of kimono was through shoes. Today we focus more about comfort and feel because of the health issues to which we are exposed, so i thought about making a shoe which is comfort oriented with a touch of tradition. my design is inspired from the collar of the kimono and the closing aspect of kimono is a inspiration for the closing of my shoe, so i have directly linked my design to kimono with a comfortable modern needs. my concept is made up of cotton and rubber, cotton for better comfort and rubber for firm grip, also the sole is not a single piece its hand stitched in different pieces so its inspired from the tailoring aspect of kimono as kimono can be assembled and disassembled.
