etch a scratch

etch a scratch by alon eliezer meron from israel

designer's own words:

pieces of furniture plated with formica and then painted. damage to the paint reveals the colors underneath. etching and scrathing the piece only stamps it with the unique fingerprint of its owners. a response to the vandalist tendencies of tenagers. by integrating the graphic values of a forbidden act (such as etching your name on a school table) it becomes a legitimate form of interaction with the design. same goes for the mirror, that cannot actually be used unless scraped.
