ERVO side table

ERVO side table by giovanni castillo from usa

designer's own words:

The ervo side table created by designform studio explores the potential for lighting to be incorporated into a bent plywood design. The ervo is designed as a side-table with night light and storage for magazines and books. Aircraft grade plywood was stacked and mold formed along with a single layer of electroluminescent light sheet with a finished face in oak veneer. The final form was created by making a single mold that was mirrored to create the symmetrical profile of the ervo.
The unique beauty of the design lies in its simple yet dynamic symmetry whose curves seems to defy the natural force of gravity.

Architect and designer Giovanni Castillo is inspired by the clean lines of
mid-century modern masters such as alvaro alto and eero Saarinen. The ervo demonstrates the designer’s affinity for japanese and scandinavian design with it’s organic forms and use of natural materials. The ervo side table was designed and fabricated while Giovanni was studying at the rhode island school of design.
