designer's own words:

Brief Summary of the design of the ERGO CC01:

The ERGO CC01 was designed as a home lounging device that is simple and effective in giving great ergonomics, stealth-fighter like aesthetics and minimal parts to create something comfortable, radically-styled with minimal ecological impact. It’s made from a moulded composite frame, fabric straps and a sorbothane front edge ‘bumper’. It comes with a footstool and the radical overhanging cantilever design allows the chair to do away with traditional box and spring upholstery methods due to the ‘self-sprung’ frame structure. Simple high tech construction and minimal design with no mechanical/moving parts make the chair a viable mass production project. I hoped for this chair to be the Formula 1 race car of the furniture world. It would be possible to mould the chair in various colours and sizes (the smaller the size, the stronger the frame becomes as frame thickhness would be maintained regardless of size) making the entire chair and footstool set ‘kid-proof’. In summary the chair represents a stylish, cool, fun, lightweight, strong, healthy chair for any home environment.
