the handle is woking with a internal spring. when the user push the front part in ceramic, this part mova a spring situated inside the aluminium case. in this way the spring let the lock open and the door will be open too. to close the door, the user just need to keep the handle and take it until the door will be close. the shape of the handle help this movement. the push is also usefull in situation of panic.
