elastico

elastico by daniele barosi from italy

designer's own words:

“elastico” originates from a ludic interpretation of some famous handles, designed in the past by important italian architects and designers.
the essential and simple image of an elastic band, a perfect closed line stretched between two fixed elements, determines the shape of the handle.
the dimensions have been studied so to recall this image. the measurements and the proportions of “elastico” are designed so to create a formal continuity, and produce a slim and elegant object.
the handle is formed by two parts, so to bring out the conceptual image of the elastic band. they both will be in die cast brass with two possible finishes: chrome and mat chrome.
we also thought of the possible variations of the handle so as to create a complete set, especially focusing our attention on dk, window, and pull handles. the symmetry of “elastico” helped the rotation of it, for vertical uses. the different elements, even if correctly adjusted to the intended use, show the concept with the same strength, creating a coherent, unusual and recognizable series.
