Eightch door handle by james watson from usa
designer's own words:
the eightch door handle was inspired by traveling at high rates of speed and the emotions associated with the experience. refinement of the shape began after reading a book on japanese culture with my son, and i found the shapes in origami quite beautiful. my early sketches contained these forms, with an emphasis on the classic crane design. the ideas quickly evolved to include the 1950's chevron as a tribute to the great american automoble. balance and control are important aspects of the design especially when considering how the shape will influence interactions. i wanted to create a form that would work well in different environments, and lend itself to a variety of materials. i see the design as compliment to already well executed interior and exterior spaces. designed for those who place an importance on aesthetic, i look forward to seeing how people will use the eightch door handle to accentuate their lives.
