egg timer is a device that explores our perception of time by using our sense of smell. an incense with 3 different scents is placed on a ceramic vessel. the person cooking will be notified of the egg's status thru smell - the scent changes every 4 minutes (total burning time is 12 minutes - enough time for a hard-boiled egg). this way the person cooking can monitor the egg without having to stay close to the stove. with this piece i'm trying to deal with time and it's relationship with our senses, using a combination of form and materials that has an (almost) poetic simplicity.
