dump it right board game by Eena Basur from india
designer's own words:
‘Dump it Right’ is a fun board game for 4 players of all age groups designed as a learning tool for waste management. In a playful way it informs the players how to segregate and distinguish between various kinds of household wastes for proper disposal. The game includes a detailed 'how to play' manual as well as rules & regulations to follow. There are 2 levels of difficulty that the game can be played in: Level 1 - the 4 coins are colour coded making it easier to identify the respective hole that players have to strike the coin into. Level 2 - all the coins are of the same color. The players have to identify the waste type through the icons on the coins.
This game was co-designed with the children of Father Agnel School, New Delhi, during a three-month in-depth workshop of design and creative thinking. A very important part of the design development was the process that involved sensitizing students by connecting them to their immediate environment through extensive workshop. The process was designed to enhance and facilitate the children’s skill towards formulating their observations and thoughts in order to find creative design solutions to meet the challenges that our cities are facing today. It also involved, facilitating the implementation of design ideas. This workshop was part of 'Power of Seeing', a joint initiative of Green Curry Design with Abhyas Trust.
POWER OF SEEING aims to connect citizens – children, youth and adults – to their immediate urban environment, with each other, and the systems that make our cities functional, with the aim for us to come together and collectively re-envision cities with sustainable systems that are organized keeping human convenience, safety and dignity at the center.
