designer's own words:
the design was based on the idea to propose a product that improves the use of door handles, that creates a brand identity for colombo design, and that is eco friendly trough its entire product life cycle.
research made on door handles and product-user interaction revealed a potential of improvement in this product, to create an inclusive design that considers the need of those with hand disabilities who can make limited hand movements, and thus struggle to use ordinary door handles.
this design can be opened with a simple finger movement by any user. the handle is designed to have a minimum amount of parts, versatile to be machines in numerous materials, metals plastic or wood. it is made to have a simple assembly and disassembly at the end of its life cycle, allowing material recycling to reduce environmental impact.
Dritto is the name of the design, allusive to its straight shape, distinctive from the regular curved door handles.
