designer's own words:
The driving factor behind the design was to create an inexpensive room divider and a bookshelf. Concrete rings typically used in rainwater harvesting wells served this purpose.
Bolting two rings together made it stable enough to stand on its own; eliminating the need for any extra support. Waste plywood was cut to size and polished with a wooden beading at both ends for stability.
There are three shelves per ring, but only two brackets, as the bottom shelf is held in place by the natural curve of the ring.
