door handle Surf by catherine hamon from italy
designer's own words:
the verb to handle means to feel and manipulate with the hands and it is through this action that the door handle Surf was developed. the designer began this project working with plasticine study models to find the shape that felt good which lead to an object that also looks good!
it is known that to design is also to make a personal statement, but that statement need not be loud nor imposing; it would preferable that it be subtle and clever. form is a strong language in itself and it must be carefully dosed. the objective was to design a door handle that is visually dynamic, without being overly aggressive.
however, the principal aim was to design a door handle that would attract the touch of the user. The door handle must be grasped by the hand in order to be operated and thus the shape should accompany this action with ease and pleasure… sometimes tactile satisfaction can be as rewarding as, if not more than, the pleasure given through visual sensations.
so, enjoy! Surf, designed to please the eye, but also to please the hand…
…hands on door handles!
