d'luth chair by kelly schroeder from usa
designer's own words:
The d'Luth chair is more than a chair. The versatile d'Luth is also a snack table, a recliner and a step stool. A seat cushion may be added that also is useful in the recliner mode.
The d'Luth chair is simple to assemble. It is only three parts; there are no fasteners and no tools are required. It disassembles quickly and stores flat and compactly. Damaged parts can be easily replaced since there is no permanent assembly.
Laminate plywood is the preferred material. It can be produced in a beech veneer with a natural stain and wax for a beautiful finish treatment. The result is a design with a low environmental impact. Alternatively the surfaces could be painted in fun youthful thematic patterns or bright colors. The three parts are easily interchanged to suit the owner's changing style.
Manufacturing the d'Luth chair will be very low cost. It can be produced with simple machining operations that can be automated. Since there is no assembly, labor costs will be small. It will also be economical to package and ship. The three parts stack flat and compactly making for high-density efficient transport through the entire route from factory to store to home.
