Digital 'Soul of Apple' by KIMMINJAEARCHI from hong kong

This project has begun from a deep consideration of what an apple is to us. One apple has many meanings besides fruit. For instance, its sweet taste basically brings us a moment of happiness. And, the rounded shape has a beautiful geometry, which is an object of observation of aesthetic expression to us and its intense color gives the viewer a strong vitality. Sometimes, it was a tool that contributes greatly to the discovery of new scientific theory. Nowadays, it has become a global icon with its value as a brand. Finally, it is reborn as a new product such as ‘Hirosaki Apple Pie’ that becomes a unique culture. Here, the meanings of an apple is digitalized as the soul of apple in this project. This soul does not have any dimensions and materials but have reinterpreted existence of an apple. This concept allows the soul of apple to be called anywhere in the world, and can be materialized by 3d printers with new materials. When powdered apple is used for 3d printers, it can be materialized into an evolved Hirosaki Apple Pie. Likewise, it can be materialized and printed as an apple-shaped lamp with colorful plastic materials. Even, a small apple shaped pavilion can be printed with using materials such as metal or concrete. How this soul comes to us depends on our imagination.
