bamboo represents orient. it is widly used in the japanese culture. it recalls the origin of infiniti, japan.
we chose nature bamboo veneer for its rich texture and slim elegant form. unlike conventionally used only as surface decoration, we digitally computed bended veneer force performance, and design a selft structure 3D surface that's composed by non-identical bended veneer piece. with the help of digital fabrication, the overall construction time for this piece is only 5 days.
the prototype showed here is 2m wide by 5m high. the overall size and shape could be easily reconfigured, such as to a curtain wall, a ceiling, or a 3D space, according to specific need.
