dervish a timer as a motion detector

dervish a timer as a motion detector by M.W. from germany

designer's own words:

Motion Detectors for daily use part two:

the timer "Dervish” (The object is dancing like a dervish.)

We need objects as technical aids for everyday reminder service.
Alarm clocks, mobil phones and timers are ringing, clattering, roaring, whistling, piping:

... tiet tiet tiet... tiet tiet tiet...

this sound as a horror scenario: rudely, loudly, artificially
... an interference factor as a principle!

question: how the objects should remind us?

- How can we notice that the time is ripe for the boiled egg through the sound of the radio?
- How will the cook be reminded of the right moment to take the roast out of the oven while the dishwasher is singing?
- Which sensory perception works ever with this everyday overstimulation?

answer: motion as a sensory stimulus of the peripheral vision
(scientific background: the peripheral vision is very efficient for the perception of movements.)

function:
The timer "Dervish” is taking up its activity of attention in axis rotation with a constant speed without tearing the user directly from any concentration.

activation:
The upper part of the timer will be turned clockwise around the rotation axle to preload the integrated spring to its limit stop, then the upper part of the timer will be turned counter clockwise around the rotation axle onto the intended minute indication (characterized in steps of five minutes: 5 - 60 minutes) and thus activated.

The motion will stop automatically when the spring is relaxed.

conventional use possible:
as a matter of course the “Dervishr” has a sound as an additional sensory stimulus which can be activated
seperately.

the form: a symbiosis between a stylised dervish coat and a meeple in a minimalistic case

technical description:
the case injection molded, timer mechanics, bell, the upper part is detachable to activate the bell,
when the count down timer expires the tensioned spring will be triggered and the motion is initiated through the
mechanic components with a high gearing ratio, therefore no accumulator cell necessary,
