curved line of light

curved line of light by svein inge bjørkhaug from norway

designer's own words:

the process took us back to the simplicity of lights, curves and shapes. the background of the work is an experiment we did to play with projections and ways to interact with the lights projected onto different surfaces. the experimental process took us over to flexible surfaces where the user could manipulate and interact with the art piece. the process took us to the very simple solution of only using vertical lines projected aligned with the screen and not onto the screen. this leaves the user to touch and feel the light by pressing the screen into the light and by projecting vertical lines in movement the lines turns into curves around the areas of interaction. the setup is only a white and flexible fabric made of lycra that have transparency and flexibility to shape and a projector. by using a sensors, webcam or kinect you can also manipulate the projections and experience by detecting the user as it approach the installation. the groundwork comes from the experimental project we did and as we discovered this competition we thought this work would be fantastic towards the topic and goal. we hope to develop this idea to curved visions as it is it the line that turn into curves that is the core of out vision. process video can be seen at https://vimeo.com/22613842
