cryogen by juan severino from uruguay
designer's own words:
The concept developed for this project focuses around the idea of a cryogenic capsule, the ability of stacking things in time by physically altering the process of elderliness. This kind of one-way time traveling idea is commonly associated with a frozen state in which things are “suspended”, invariable to time, such as food in a refrigerator or memories captured in photographs.
Cryogen combines an abstract of this futuristic idea with cutting edge technology in order to achieve an innovative and interactive product which is not only a piece kitchen equipment but an aid for making life easier and more enjoyable in that specific part of the house. Occupying almost a third of the space that a conventional fridge does, cryogen is not condemned to a fixed location in the kitchen but is now an active element of its topography.
