Crossroad door handle by robert sibley from usa
designer's own words:
the crossroad door handle is the result of exploring the combination of different shapes to achieve a door handle. the original intent was to include in the design flexibility to use different materials to enhance the design. in exploring the angular form i liked the idea that it typically is not seen as overly comfortable and ergonomic however the interaction of the different facets and angles create a comfortable natural hand position that is suprising at first touch. this juxtaposition of angle and comfort create interest and energy in the piece. the materials used would also follow this theme of justaposition. organic materials like wood or metals with wood grain (i.e. mokume gane or damascus steel) would provide an organic focal point in the handle and balance the angles of the overall piece.
