Cross Lamp by sergey buldygin from russia
designer's own words:
The Cross Lamp is based on a three-dimensional cross, as a simple mannered, basic element of the crystal lattice. Owing to such a form, several lamps can be formed into ordered groups of various kinds, both symmetric and asymmetric (for using in large rooms). This is what I call a macro level transformation. The Cross Lamp consists of three elements: 1) A six-arm metal or ceramic core as a foundation for all other elements. 2) Wooden cylinder with an inner conductive system. 3) LED lamp with an opaque plastic or glass diffuser. Because of the simplicity and interoperability of the conductive elements on threaded connections, the lamp can be easily transformed. For example, deletion of the circuit wooden cylinders, will get you a compact version of the Cross Lamp. It can also give you a lighting in an asymmetric form. This is what I call a micro level transformation. Stable, cruciform shape and simple units of the Cross Lamp allow you to use it not only as a ceiling chandelier, but also as a movable lighting with a long wire, making it possible to be placed either on a table or floor.
