designer's own words:
interesting about the contour is the difference between the left and right version in one handle. with one mould a handle is made which can be used for both version. it seems like a metal bar is twisting through the door in a very sophisticated way. this will be even more visible in a glass door.
the name contour is a combination of the italian word "contorcere" which means twisting and the english word "contour" something very important for a design door handle.
searching, looking carefully, drawing and claying all preceded this concept. soon i discovered that the nod is an important aspect of a door handle. i wanted a simple bend that was made by one shape, the contour is the result of my exploration.
producing by bending and twisting a metal bar will not be very easy. to have perfect control over the shape of the bend i custom designed and modelled it. through metal casting the shape can easily be made, a draft angle is applied on the whole part. both chrome and matte metal finishes will look great on this handle.
