cocoon

cocoon by i29 office for spatial design - from netherlands

designer's own words:

playing games, surfing the internet, studying and chatting with friends. this desk enables the user to be in their own private world. a fabric top mounted on the desk hides the display from others and from distracting reflective light. it also absorbs surrounding sounds… creating a cocoon!

most teenagers want to be different. printing various graphics on to the fabric can easily customize this piece of furniture. it becomes a piece of fashion. it expresses different styles and can refer to a subculture of the teenager’s choice (skate, hip hop, dance, alternative, gothic.)

the desk can be used in any location, for instance a bedroom, a public library, or a school hallway. materials: coated steel base; hpl desktop; (foldable) top, fabrics (various designs)
