Cloudscape by Daiki Nakamori from japan
designer's own words:
At one time or another, you may have marveled at the magnificent scenery of clouds and the light of the sun. As you observe floating clouds and the changing hue of the sunlight over time, you become aware of the existence of your five senses that animate and illuminate your life.
Cloudscape is a light that brings scenes of clouds and the sun into your room. Cloudscape consists of urethane foam on the surface of two sheets of plexiglass and a black ring studded with hidden RGB LEDs on the edge of the sheets. By moving the position and the angle of the light source, the grid changes its lighting patterns to create different views, from sunrise to sunset.
The organic shape of the urethane is crafted by peeling glued urethane foam off from a sheet of plexiglass. We propose this approach as one of the methods to form complex patterns. We believe our work does not only remain as a crafted sculpture but can be reproduced by using the recent technologies such as 3D-scanner and printer.
