Close Up lights were created as the result of an investigation into the translucency of Bone China and the transparent quality of Glass. It is part of the my MA degree collection at the Royal College of Art London.

Close Up is a decorative Glass and ceramic light. The bone china pieces , inside the glass form, are slip casted and hand carved individually .The glass Pieces are free blown so that each one is unique and bespoke. On the glass, bubble-lens were created to distort and magnify the view of the Bone china inside. The Bone China appears distorted and magnify as looking inside a microscope. The connection between the material Bone China and the ‘immaterial’, light allows me to create a connection between the visible and invisible natural world.

Close up is made and design by myself with the help of a stainless steel fitting manufacture in Uk and my business partner Sheng Tsang Chen who helps me blow the glass in his studio in London. All the ceramic part are handmade by myself, in my studio in London. Sheng Tsang Chen and I have recently fund a company , Vezzini & Chen design and Close up lights were on show at v& c design stand at Design Junction show during London Design Week 2013.
