Background
Increasing population numbers in cities have made traveling and commuting a generally unpleasant and claustrophobic experience. To avoid this congested method of transport many have considered owning their own car. However in most cases the cost of owning a car often outweighs the benefits. Insurance, road tax and various miscellaneous costs make owning a car very expensive.
Cars will invariably breakdown at some point in their life span and will require maintenance or repair. This takes time and effort and is a cause for inconvenience often resulting in further spending.
With each additional driver entering the roads and motorways the more pollution we are releasing into the atmosphere. This contributes to the effects of global warming causing harm to sensitive wildlife ecosystems as well as proving detrimental to our health.
As a result, the enjoyment factor associated with driving has deteriorated to the point where people just drive to get from point A to point B in an emotionless fashion.

-Space constraint

Area of Consideration
We aimed to look at providing a public transport solution that offered a truly personalized feel that differentiated itself from other solutions by focusing on the experience of driving and how it has evolved over the years.
Solution
Transportation of the future needs to consider three vital areas in synchronous harmony giving equal attention to the users, environment and marketing strategy involved in order to identify a viable solution. This is demonstrated in the diagram on board #1.
1. Users:
benefits
-Driving Experience
-Re imagined sensory experience
-Increased access to the city
Our concept offers a truly unique driving experience in and around the city as it emulates the limitless sensation one gets while walking freely around the city. The open chassis design exposes the driver to the sights, sounds, smell and feel of the city provoking a more stimulating experience through the full immersion and involvement of all the users’ senses.
The chassis was designed so the minimal material was used in order to make sure the user’s visibility was not hindered in anyway whilst still maintaining a safe using interlocking and weaving structures.
2. Environment:
benefits
-Space efficient
-Energy Efficient
-not only Innovative solution utilizing transportation but also easy and seamless implementation into the city
The concepts ability to reduce the occupied floor space along with an innovative interlocking design enables it to stack eloquently in a row providing a space efficient solution. This is key in city environments where space is an invaluable commodity.
The lightweight chassis design does not require much energy to get it moving and so provides an energy efficient and versatile method of transport around the city.
The concepts durable frame and weather resistant shell makes it highly adaptable to its environment as its nimble yet robust characteristics make it an asset to any city’s landscape providing a more exciting alternative to public transport.
3. Manufacturer:
-Taking advantage of existing manufacturing methods and resources
-Environmentally responsible
-Sustainable revenue model
Using existing manufacturing methods and resources from bicycle vendors the concept is an easily implementable and environmentally responsible solution as it most of its parts and structures can be taken from decommissioned bikes.
This provides a financially lucrative opportunity as costs of implementation; integration and maintenance are low enabling a profitable revenue model if combined with a membership or monthly rental scheme.
