chaos by amanda hunt from new zealand
designer's own words:
This work is inspired by traditional relief tiles and the architectural textures and patterns that surround us.
This method of pattern making known as tessellation represents the inherent connection between tiles and pattern.
“From the art of M.C. Escher, to crystal growth, to the mathematics of Penrose tilings, tessellation exemplifies how mathematics can unify the aesthetic, natural and rational worlds.”
An interest in illusion and chaotic patterning developed from experiments with tessellation. I aim to demonstrate as in nature the beauty and order found in chaos.
