designer's own words:
Children are not static; so why be their furniture?
A furniture that supports dynamism and play while also addressing children’s unique requirements for daily activities of sitting, study and storage.
Cartoy, a mobile toy storage furniture, is designed to be moved around the house as a play activity by kids, with the ease of carrying their belongings with them on the go. The furniture piece has a removable toy bin, whose lid also acts as a writing surface, and a seat making it a personalized piece of furniture addressing a child’s basic daily activities of sitting, playing and studying.
Cartoy uses mobility and user engagement to build its emotive value for kids for over and above its functions. It also encourages engagement of more than one child at a time making it relevant for a longer duration. The play factor associated with the furniture makes collecting back the toys, usually spread around the house, an attractive proposal for the children.
Cartoy is made using plywood and finished with clear lacquer and white PU paint. Removable seating in foam facilitates easy cleaning for maintenance of white upholstery.
Owing to its functional value of storage and a generous seating provision, Cartoy is not constrained to kids and remains relevant even after they grow up.
