carp by bradley bowers from usa
designer's own words:
the idea behind "carp" is about skin. why do doorknobs have to be solid metal chinks? they do not have to be. i set out to design a knob that was intriguing because of its lack of mass. the image of a gulping carp and its streamlined head came to mind. the dimples on its sides aid the user in establishing a good grip. "carp" is composed of two identical halves, this would allow for material shifts: matte, glossy, smooth, bumpy, slippery, sticky. i think that tactile experiences should be explored deeper when it comes to how a person enters into a space. i hope "carp" achieves this.
