carmellia table

carmellia table by georgia gidzinski from uk

designer's own words:

The concept is a side table for informal dining. The spinning table-top reveals three compartments suitable for storage of snacks, fruit, napkins, cutlery, etc. When the table is shut it has a calm apperance, once you open it up it bursts to life by revealing the colourful printed insides of the compartments as well as their contents. The design mimics that of a flower with the three compartments symbolising the petals and the leg curving like a stem. Materials used: mdf, steel tubing, polypropylene and perspex. The table was spraypainted with 'caramel white' which gave the design a soft appearance that suited with its form. This prototype uses the Marimekko pattern 'Unikko' on the insides of the compartments, although the design is intended to have one of my own patterns printed inside.
