Calyx by Moses Rowen from ireland
designer's own words:
Calyx is a showcase lighting system which exhibits the unique properties of LG Display flexible OLED lighting. The name Calyx is derived from botany, the calyx protects the vulnerable petals and stamen, in this context, the OLED panel and product respectively, the former wrapping the latter in a cocoon of light.
Calyx is a modular system, a single Calyx can be dramatic as a standalone feature or they can be arranged in a matrix to elegantly showcase a collection. The design is equally appropriate for in-boutique use and display windows. The geometry is designed to make the product visible from 180° while achieving diffuse, wraparound illumination without unpleasant glare from any angle, even at night, an advantage unique to the OLED panel.
Calyx consists of two parts, a standard size 320mm x 110mm, double sided, flexible OLED panel and a pressed, brushed Aluminium chassis which cradles the product while imparting shape to the OLED. The standard size lends itself to showcasing perfume, crystal glassware and jewellery, however the design is scalable, bespoke sizes could be produced to accommodate anything from rings to champagne bottles.
