designer's own words:
The "Butterfly" is a new and advanced way of using a door handle for many reasons, one of which being, the relationship between shape and function. Starting with the new materials used for the Butterfly handle such as Harmonic steel that has incredibile elastic capabilities. The harmonic steel is also a material that is easy to bend into shape. This component, the handle/wall bumper, bent in a double side, is covered by a rubber coat of paint to improve the softs characteristics and keep the handle and the wall in the best way possible. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "second skin". Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as "whiteware" and aluminium extrusions. The butterfly shape improves also the ergonomic aspects, in particolar way helps the user during the physical effort. Another important aspect is the easy customization; infact it's possible to customize the bumper's handle in according to the interior stuff, the house's zone or to own taste. The handle is made by milled alluminium but it's could be possible also to use the die cast system where the breaking characteristic are better. The handle, in alluminium, will be also anodized for estetic reasons.
