Breaking furniture by szlucile from france
designer's own words:
My project is an experimentation process around the body posture at work. In my opinion, our body is constantly constrained by social habits at work. Maybe that anticipation is to free the body to improve the experience at work.
How to position ourselves is very socially connoted because of the context, the position, and the activity. This project offers to users more body freedom and disinhibition. My wish is to legitimize body posture interpretated as relaxation postures at work to make evolve the common view. The best way to achieve it is through a furniture collection.
Each shape corresponds to a bodily experience that breaks with classical postures. The furniture are designed for workers who want to change their postures. Users can read, think or talk with few workmates. This leads to a change of the way of thinking, essential in a working activity.
3D scanning and modeling software allow me to create a process. After my observations, I choose a posture, I immobilize and I scan the body in 3D. Then I deploy virtual objects in the empty space created by the body. I realize models with digital tools to test the shape. I can then modify it to improve the furniture.
These furnitures are designed to be made of felt and wood, natural and healthy materials, which contrast with the classical office furniture.
As it can be produce by digital tools, it allows a wide flexibility and adaptability in the process. This is an innovative way of production.
