Teenagers today more than ever are obsessed with almost any type of collectionism, whether it’s the latest adidas model, video game, or comic. Every day they are more sophisticated and selective as they are bombarded with media and culture, art and image. Basic.a offers the possibility to take a collection of images to the next level, turning them into functional objects occupying a space defined not only by the posters on the wall or the music playing but by the furnishings. A completely personalized enviornment made and chosen by the young collector.BASIC.A is constructed with a single square sheet of compressed wood (80x80cm), with a laminated surface and graphic image printed on the entire front surface. The geometry of each cut piece is studied in order to eliminate wasted materials during construction, and the packaging, a single sheet, allows for easy stockage in shops and storage at home. It is constructed by the user following a simple series of steps outlined in the accompanying packaging. The idea consists in producing limited edition series through the the various graphic images applied, capturing a style or trend of the moment (for example Grafitti, music, fashion, comics). One can also create custom chairs by mixing pieces within a series.
