Today, solar energy is spotlighted because it is eco-friendly. Solar energy is already used in many and varied fields, including public lighting. The solar energy light ‘Baragi’ is a beautiful form which will attract people to its orbit, it will provide them with the added delights of abundant light and warmth in public places at night.
In addition to solar technology ‘Baragi’ utilizes the quality of shape-memory alloys. Shape memory alloy forms by temperature. When it is in its cold state, the metal can be bent or stretched into a variety of shapes, and will hold that shape until it is heated above the transition temperature. Upon heating, the shape changes back to its original form. The alloy is bio corrosion resistant so it is suitable for outdoor use.
By using the characteristics of shape-memory alloy, ‘Baragi’ is able to change the angle of the solar panel according to the temperatures and this action allows it to collect more energy. In the winter when the temperature is low, as the height of the sun is low, the shape-memory alloy drops the angle of the solar panel. In the summer, when the temperature is high following the altitude of the sun, the alloy changes form which changes the angle of the solar panel. By this action, ‘Baragi’ can collect more energy simply.
During the night, heat emerges from the process especially from the stem lighting. The stem lighting moves according to the movement of alloy so when the temperature is high, the light moves up and when temperature is low, the light moves down. Whenever people feel cold, they can enjoy the warmness from the lights.
