bagbowl by katharina mischer from austria
designer's own words:
This fruitbowl is made out of 44 Plastic Bags.
The bags are placed between two sheets of thin, transparent PE-foils and pressed and melted together. For this process just low temperature is needed, so that the bags stick to each other and the foils without much shrinkage. This way the process is not too toxic and the bags even keep their vivid aolours and prints. This "bag-sheet" can then be vacuum formed into different shapes.
The idea behind this object is to get people more aware of the fact that plastic bags are valuable. - That they should be reused and recycled in a proper way!
