Appomattox Cabin by Don O'Keefe from usa
designer's own words:
The future of our world is urban. The realities of our continuing development have made sprawling architecture and urbanism an impossibility. With this in mind, even rural architecture must reduce its impact on the land. This cabin maintains a small building foot print, orienting its spaces vertically. It was constructed solely by the designer, is cooled passively, and is heated by a wood stove. In the absence of running water, a nearby spring is used. The cabin can only be accessed by foot, further reducing infrastructure impacts. This spareness reflects a responsible attitude towards the rural vacation home typology. Its proportion and appearance suggest a rural building with an urban sensibility.
