Apple Print Flag by Matthew Chen from usa
designer's own words:
The design created was intended to be very simple in order to represent the town of Hirosaki as well as the entire country in a way that reflects the beautiful simplicity of Japanese art. The idea behind the design stems directly from the Japanese flag, with the twist of using an apple as opposed to the red sun, tying it with the culture and history of Hirosaki.
The print design was created by using a real apple sliced in half and stamping it onto fabric. Two different prints were created. This allowed for the use of the print in two basic designs, a flag and a t-shirt. The apple on the flag is very simple yet still directly represents Hirosaki and Japan as a whole. The t-shirt holds a similar meaning to the flag, but does not so directly tie to Japan as a whole and adds emphasis on the town of Hirosaki.
