designer's own words:

Apartment 15 in Mumbai is a 750 sq.ft. home for a young professional couple who have casual get-togethers and prefer to enjoy a relaxed week-end at home after a very hectic week.
One enters into the living room at one end via a small lobby area and are subjected to a fantastic view of trees birds and the sea in the background, which is very rarely seen in the city of Mumbai. The stone ledge at the window here has been planned for seating so that a comfortable quiet cup of coffee can be enjoyed right besides the branches of the huge tree across the road. The dining table has been located at the furthest end of the room, near the kitchen, so that the table does not block the view at any time. Huge couches in the middle of the room create an atmosphere of comfort and homeliness. The clients are avid collectors during their travels of prints of paintings and accessories for display in their home. Niches and units have been cut into the walls for showcasing the collection without it being pretentious or loud. The display has been scattered across the room so as to juxtapose utility items with show cases. Frames have been created on walls to display prints of paintings. Lighting has been used to great effect to create different atmospheres within the single space since the clients entertain quite often during weekends. The tv unit and the display unit follow the same language to give a sense of uniformity and depth to the space. A soft cream has been primarily used to give a sense of large space with browns, biege and coppers offsetting the starkness of white.
The bedroom has been highlighted with a dash of bright blue in stark contrast to the outer soft sophisticated cream and wood. A large mirror is fixed on the cupboard in keeping with the clients' wishes, adding to a sense of outdoor within the room, by the reflection of the green of the trees in the mirror. The blue has been painted behind the bed so as not enchroach one's vision on awakening. Instead a window has been planted to open your eyes to the morning light. A small utility niche area has been created besides the bed so as to fit all titbits, as can be in any bedroom, keeping the look of the room clean.
The extremely narrow kitchen has been visually enlarged by using reflective backpainted white glass and white tiles on the walls. The toilets, also narrow due to space constraints have been made in a combination of two colors, one being white and other brown n blue.
