A supercar design for a new generation. by Reggie Fourmyle from usa
designer's own words:
__styling__
the styling of the car exudes modern technological advancement, revolutionary new ideas and a aggressive curved lines. the front fascia was inspired by the curved bulging shape of a great white shark's head. the sharpness of the headlights and hood lines look like a sharp samurai blade. the headlights are long and thin, yet they look well proportioned due to their flared sharp edges. led daytime running lights meet headlights inside of a single headlight unit. below the headlights are brake cooling ducts that look like no other car. the sharp hood lines feature two active shutters used to cool the centrally mounted radiator.
__cabin__
the cabin was designed to look like the hull of a spaceship. the cabin is also large and may allow a 2 + 2 seating arrangement if a flat or electric engine design is utilized. the cabin also features real world visibility out of realistically sized windows... this was done intentionally to avoid the common crux of "making a car look cool because it has no windows". i personally don't like car designs that neglect basic necessities such as windows and ground clearance.
__side__
a single large side intake flows with the curvature of the cabin. a single hood line runs along the length of the side and broadens as it approaches the rear of the car.
__rear__
the rear is marked by a long, yet thin and futuristic rear brake light design. the tail light shapes are connected with a body line in between the two tail lights. also running along the back are two symmetrical vertical body lines that run from the rear diffuser, through the tail lights and all the way to the edges of the cabin.
__body__
the body is proportionately designed to have the looks of a true supercar, while still maintaining visibility and overall practicality. the body lines are simple and should be inexpensive to manufacture. the short over-hangs in front and back offer minimal body roll. the low overall height offers a low center of gravity. the rear wing provides rear downforce and a true supercar stance.
__wheels__
the wheel design was inspired by the nissan gt-r's initial wheel design. it features 8 thick spokes that are slightly flared out at the edges with a simple concave overall shape.
__functionality__
the radiator mounted in front of the driver firewall offers a potentially revolutionary new way of thinking about engine cooling. active shutters located on the top of the hood provide large amounts of air and downforce at high speeds. active shutters allow the amount of downforce and engine cooling to be dialed in when needed. additional radiator cooling can be extracted from the brake cooling ducts located below the headlights. luggage space could be located in the front of the car or in the rear. the cabin is long and large, providing room for two rear seats, an in-cabin engine bay or additional storage.
__naming__
i couldn't decide on a name for the car. i wanted to call it the "vettel" because i think that name sounds really cool and obviously in honor of sebastien vettel... but i think it would be rude to give my car his name without his permission... it's his name not mine! my initial name was "hellfish" because it looks like a hellfish and that is also the name of my favorite musician that largely inspired the design. marauder was also a name that i like, but i think it might be too aggressive. otherwise i was calling the car the "aeron", which i think has a nice ring to it. the infiniti aeron.
