a caldelier by alejandro londoño from spain
designer's own words:
A. Caldelier is a pending lamp based in Alexander Calder´s mobiles. This particular model uses a
total number of 22 OLED panels, 8 of 140x140mm and 22 of 100x100mm providing a good light
power according its size (around Ø2m).
The main idea is a design which fully demonstrates the potential of this amazing new technology.
Based in the Mobile Art (a.k.a. Kinetic Art) , the OLED panels could be shown as a floating, ultra
thin and eye-gentle source of light.
This kind of lamps can be easily mass-produced , as not designed to be handcrafted but, based in a
simple system with two elements, hollow tubes (used to hold Oled panels and distribute electric
cable) and the OLED panels themselves, put together in a beatyful dynamic balance. Understanding
the system and its paramethers of balance and light power can generate infite models, sizes and
types of lamps.
