a black cover opens a blank book. by laura hardwick from uk
designer's own words:
the piece was created with the simplicity and function of moleskine product in mind. 'black book' was a constant in the mind. the start of a book begins the story.
using illustrator, i created a simple white rectangle upon a black square (representing the front of a moleskine), then toyed with the idea of block type. The black square begins the word, almost like the black of a moleskin cover begins the notes inside.
finishing off with arial black, which has a beautifully yet uncomplicated form to it, much like the inside pages of a moleskine.
