zaha hadid design applies its fluidity and dynamism into porcelain collections for rosenthal

zaha hadid design has launched its first collaboration with porcelain tableware producer rosenthal, introducing three collections of vases and bowls: lapp, weave and strip. the products evoke themes often found in the studio’s distinct architecture and design aesthetics, including  fluidity in shape, mass and void, playfulness, and dynamism.

the three collections by zaha hadid design come to join a long line of collaborations between the 140-year tableware producer and leading artists and designers such as salvador dali, andy warhol, walter gropius, and werner panton. referencing the motion of liquid droplets flowing along a solid surface, the lapp collection features a family of vases in different sizes, in varying combinations of matt and gloss ceramic finishes.  the design creates openings and voids that allow for many different flower arrangements at the top – as well as on the sides – of the vase.

the three vases and two bowls of different sizes in the strip collection are defined by metallic highlights between the rhythmical vertical lines of their sculptural forms. lastly, the weave collection is influenced by the fluid lines of zaha hadid’s sketching hand, incorporating delicate strokes that interweave and diverge to express their interplay of fluidity and symmetry.
