Jiwon Jung reveals water transfer printing seating series

Korean furniture designer Jiwon Jung introduces the Mosaic series, under their brand KINOLD, featuring unique seating made from Styrofoam. These chairs are lightweight yet durable, thanks to an epoxy finish. The design showcases vibrant, unpredictable patterns created using water transfer printing techniques and lacquer. In contrast to the previous KINOLD series, the Mosaic collection features rounded edges and blends multiple hues of the same color in each piece. This design evolution maintains the patterns’ distinctiveness while introducing an updated look.

styrofoam Mosaic series is clad with unpredictable patterns

As the lacquer covering the Mosaic series stools interacts with the Styrofoam, it melts into the material, forming distinct patterns that even the designer, Jiwon Jung cannot foresee. This spontaneous process results in each piece having a unique appearance, with the streaks of white Styrofoam subtly visible through the colors, enhancing the material’s natural texture. The Mosaic series by the Korean designer includes four color variations: Green, Pink, Yellow, and Blue. The Green chair measures 380 x 360 x 500 mm, the Pink chair 360 x 300 x 450 mm, the Yellow chair 330 x 410 x 400 mm, and the Blue chair 350 x 390 x 400 mm. These sizes accommodate different seating preferences, making the chairs functional and versatile.
