vondom ibiza collection crafted from ocean plastic washed onto the island

it is estimated that 8 million metric tons of plastic, from single-use bottles through to bags and straws, end up in our oceans each year. in the aim of salvaging a small percentage of this ocean plastic, vondom and eugeni quitllet remove and recycle material washed up on to the shores of the industrial designer’s home island of ibiza, spain to create the namesake furniture range. ‘observing the plastic objects brought by the sea, like artificial shells, it inspired me to create a unique collection made of recycled plastics from the island,’ states quitllet about the vondom ‘ibiza’.

like anyone’s origins, especially one where its beautiful nature is being devastated by ocean plastic, your hometown always evokes a strong emotional connection with people. the vondom ‘ibiza’ collection recreates this sense of belonging into everlasting objects. through eugeni quitllet’s renowned philosophy of aesthetic lightness, the furniture features flowing curved lines that appear like slim sculptures. they reveal elegant silhouettes that look as comfortable as they seem stylish.

the vondom ‘ibiza’ collection comprises a sophisticated table, chair and armchairs set as well as a relaxing lounger piece. each one has been designed for both outdoor and indoor use, whether positioned in the sun by the pool or arranged within the dining room. the furniture is available in either black, white or ecru color options to ensure they fit within any home.
