volkswagen unveils ID. ROOMZZ, a zero emission SUV lounge on wheels

the battery-powered ID. ROOMZZ concept car is the newest member of volkswagen’s ID. family. from april 18 to arpil 26 the SUV will be on display to the public at auto shanghai 2019, and in two years, 2021, it’s to be launched in chinese markets as a spacious SUV with unconventional seating configurations.

volkswagen’s latest ID. concept boasts full autonomy, wooden veneer door panels, and a half-hour charge time that increases battery life to 80% capacity. ‘this SUV is a monolith, appearing to be seamlessly machined from one solid block. the battery-powered ID. ROOMZZ moves effortlessly – silently and without emissions,’ says klaus bischoff, chief designer at the volkswagen brand.

the 82-kwh battery on-board the ID. ROOMZZ has a range of up to 450 km – 475 km. two electric motors can continuously drive both axles with a system output of 225 KW / 306 PS (electric 4MOTION). 

the ID. ROOMZZ can accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and reach top speeds of up to 180 kmh, and — as is the case with all e-cars — the maximum torque is available instantly. as one accelerates and shifts the ROOMZZ into its full autonomy mode, one might configure the seats to face each other like a quiet lounge traversing the road.
