vito nesta for grand tour: portraying the rhythmic passing of seasons at maison&objet

during the 2020 spring edition of maison&objet, italian designer vito nesta presented the latest collection for his grand tour brand. through the precise arrangement of his stand, he told visitors stories from faraway lands with objects and accessories. born in puglia and based in milan, nesta’s work is driven by his attraction to foreign cultures, using his travels as a constant source of inspiration.

from tableware to glass, cushions and fabrics, vito nesta’s presentation at maison et objet in paris envisioned scenes that represented winter (mont blanc) and spring (animalia). interweaving the sense of time with the constant change of the natural world, the designer let exotic and wild animals free; thus, on cushions, on plates, on tablecloths and on the vases run evocatively hares, elk, foxes, while igers, pandas, koalas and zebras show themselves among a dense pattern of luxuriant forest.

previously, the grand tour collection by vito nesta had brought us to cairo, lebanon, kenya, india and brazil. this time, its real and imaginary journey, takes us to explore far away territories that pass through the observation of man, flora and fauna. immersed in wisteria branches, archeological ruins, palm groves and idea cities colored in purple tones, the traveler gets caught up, floating in a universe that is between perception and suggestion.

during maison&objet, nesta also presented for the first time its new logo for the grand tour brand. ‘as a travel guide, the greek-roman divinity hermes, travel guardian and famous messenger of the gods, lends its effigy, expertly portrayed by massimiliano pezzolini,’ comments the official release.
