vintage shelby comes back to life in the form of an electric bicycle

california-based vintage electric introduces their most powerful 48-volt throttle electric bicycle inspired by carroll shelby’s legendary 289 slabside. from the details of the cobra logo, handle grips, saddle seat and matching metallic blue N6 paint scheme, the electric bicycle echoes every design element of the vintage shelby. ahead of the motion picture documentary ford v ferrari, the bicycle is set to release on november 15, 2019 in limited quantity online.

in order to express the cobra’s timeless aesthetic in his electric bike, andrew davidge, founder and lead designer at vintage electric, had the opportunity to work along side aaron shelby, caroll’s grandson, throughout the design process. ‘to channel carroll shelby’s spirit of design, you have to be in the presence of the phenomenal vehicles that he created,’ comments davidge. ‘walking around these celebrated shelby cars, touching them, driving them, and seeing every last detail that carroll poured into them is truly where our inspiration came from in making the new shelby bike.’

tuned with a muscular 1123-watt battery cell requiring only 4.5 hour charging time, the shelby bicycle does not disappoint when it comes to aggressiveness and high performance. the bicycle comes with two performance modes: street mode with a speed cap at 20mph; and race mode, which requires a special key to unlock, allowing riders to speed up to 36mph. pairing vintage aesthetics and modern technology, customers also get to enjoy a smooth interface technology that is user friendly for riders of all experience levels.
