‘field rupture’ installation digitally fabricated via laser cutter with sheet metal
‘field rupture’ is a sculptural installation by veev design practice situated in the interior courtyard garden of gillis residence in berkeley hills, california. the ground surface of ‘field rupture’ is overlaid by a topological system, which shifts and pushes up vertically forcing the surface to ‘rupture’. in doing this, the field turns into a figure of two planes exerting force against each other.

edge of the anchor frame attaches to the sculpture in the same way the sculpture is perforated. the gives it a light connection to the ground.
after the sculpture is oriented, stakes are hammered through the frame to anchor the sculpture in place. tubes are welded to the anchor frame to support receiving stakes.
