valerio sommella has designed the ‘sfrido’ vegetable peeler for alessi from the basis of taking a simple tool and giving it a sweeping elegant form which transcends the standard relationship between instrument and user. ‘sfrido’ mimics the appearance of folded fruit and vegetable peels, creating an intimate action by reducing distance between the object of action and the actor; making the tool a mere extension of ones arm instead of a separate entity. the chrome finish adds flair to an otherwise utilitarian item. ‘sfrido’ is presented at maison et objet 2015.
