if throughout the many videocalls during lockdown you’ve been looking more at the little rectangle of yourself than the faces of your friends and family, then perhaps this device created by rana rmeily is for you. the ‘see yourself window’ is a small, lightweight and 3D printed gadget that hooks onto your ear and aims to ease people back into real, physical interaction.

the see yourself window is developed in round as well as rectangular 3D printed shapes to emulate the small images we see of ourselves on most video calling platforms. the extensions designed by rana rmeily allow us to see ourselves while chatting with others through the easily attachable 3D printed mirror add-ons, which are customizable to each person’s ear size.
crafted to work perfectly with the face, the small plastic device is lightweight and can be worn for long periods of time. in addition, one of the 3D printed models offers the possibility to adjust the angle of the mirror to match the person facing you, allowing them to better see themselves throughout the physical interaction. once rendered unnecessary by the user, all of the designs can be re-purposed as vanity mirrors by simply positioning them on your night table. from virtual to physical social re-integration, the see yourself window is designed essentially as an intermediate step from lockdown to normality.
